Holidays in the Village

Start your holiday adventure in the heart of Wauwatosa with Holidays in the Village. This annual celebration blends long-standing traditions with festive new activities. Wander through the Village and discover a variety of offerings and events designed to fill you with holiday cheer.

Small Business Saturday (November 30): From the cozy boutiques in the Village to specialty stores throughout the city, this is the perfect day to shop local and find special treasures for everyone on your list. Check off your holiday shopping list, then take a break and unwind at one of our many local restaurants. With special promotions and deals, it’s a great way to find unique gifts and support the community. You’ll also want to pick up your collectible Wauwatosa Village reusable shopping bag to carry all your purchases. Created by local artist Allison Beilke, this year’s bag features artwork of all your favorite Village landmarks. You can purchase one at any participating village location. They are also available online. All proceeds go toward keeping the Village merry and bright.

Wonderlight Walk (December 1-30): New for 2024, experience a magical half-mile walk that begins just south of the Muellner Building in Hart Park and follows the Oak Leaf Trail along the river. Enjoy beautiful light displays and the warm glow of twinkling lights as you stroll through the parkway–you’ll end up at the Christkindlmarkt!

Village Tree Lighting Ceremony (December 4): Join us as we light up the season with the Village Tree Lighting, a beloved tradition that marks the official beginning of our holiday celebrations and coincides with the opening of the Christkindlmarkt. The evening will include live music, visits with Santa, and other family-friendly activities.

Christkindlmarkt (December 4-22): The Village transforms into a European-style market, where charming chalets and festive booths offer handcrafted goods, delicious treats, and holiday cheer. Check out the Markt’s full schedule for live music and entertainment, as well as specialty workshops, where you can indulge your hobbies and learn something new, like exploring Amaryllis Bulbs with Aromatic Acres or creating a seasonal Charcuterie Board with The Village Cheese Shop.

For visitors, the Sonesta Hotel is offering a special discounted package, including a $98 nightly rate and a complimentary shuttle to the Christkindlmarkt, located just two miles away. Make your visit even more magical with this convenient and festive stay!

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train Benefiting Tosa Cares (December 8): Don’t miss this breathtaking sight as the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train rolls through Wauwatosa, decked out in twinkling lights and bringing a sense of wonder to the season as we raise funds and donations for Tosa Cares. Come for the train and stay for live music and Santa!

Holiday Sip & Stroll (December 12): Enjoy a leisurely walk through the Village while sipping on festive drinks and discovering local shops offering one-of-a-kind gifts. This is a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping while soaking in the joyful atmosphere.
