Sacred Rhythm Mother and some of her animal friends have found their home at Firefly Grove Park. The sculpture, created by Walk the Willow artist Justin Roberts, is made from recycled metal, invasive and native plants, and found objects, to serve as a reminder of how we affect our natural world.
Nestled into the hillside, Sacred Rhythm Mother tells a story of hope, restoration, and the world we live in. The sculpture depicts Mother Earth lifting her head toward the sky and her hand releasing animals into the wild, each representing a piece of the natural world and the interconnected ecosystems that call Firefly Grove Park home. Together, they invite the visitor to pause, look a little closer, and think about the relationship between people and the environment.

Enter the sculpture for a moment of reflection and discover the details that make it so beautiful and thought provoking. Much like the nearby Mama Rosa, Sacred Rhythm Mother is constructed of found and recycled materials. The sculpture is built around metal armatures and incorporate a collection of materials like invasive buckthorn, willow, driftwood, recycled metal, wood, and other found objects.
Sacred Rhythm Mother isn’t just something to look at, it is an invitation to stop and reflect on the choices we’ve made for our earth. Spend a few moments inside the sculpture by climbing through her ear canals or entering through the back of her head. You might leave with a little more curiosity about the world around you and an appreciation of how you can make something beautiful out of something unexpected.
