From the first-ever ART64 event in Tosa Village and TosaFest returning to the heart of our city to countless new business openings and plenty of fun, it’s been a whirlwind of a year here in Wauwatosa. Without further ado — and in no particular order — here’s what we’re especially thankful for this year.

1. Five Dynamic Districts

When you explore Wauwatosa, you not only find the heart and soul of our city, but you’ll also discover our five dynamic districts, each with its own sense of character and charm. Exterior shot of Flannel Fox in Wauwatosa.

2. Small, Local Businesses

Local Wauwatosa business owners and friendly employees truly add that extra sprinkle of Tosa magic to our town. Find everything you’re looking for (and so much more), including local cheeses, peanut brittle, retro toys, and mountain bikes.

3. Premier Shopping Destination

With 400,000 square feet of outdoor shopping at The Mayfair Collection and more than 160 retailers for shopping, dining, and entertainment at Mayfair Mall, the Mayfair District is a one-stop shop for all shopping needs.

4. Welcoming Tosa-Area Hotels

Our affordable lodging, friendly people, great food, and relaxing, comfortable pace are perfect for the serene traveler away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Traveling for work? Traveling for pleasure? Ready for a new adventure? Tosa is the perfect getaway for any type of visit. Eldr + Rime tablescape filled with food and beverage items.

5. Diverse (and Delicious!) Dining

If there’s one thing we know for certain, it’s that Wauwatosa does food the right way: ooey-gooey, crispy, crunchy, deep-fried, beer-battered, tangy, flaky, and “melt-in-your-mouth-y.” Tosa’s food scene is endless and will have you coming back time and time again. 6. Local Breweries Galore

From Camp Bar and Draft and Vessel to Good City Brewing and Lion’s Tail Brew Brewing, you’ll always get the perfect pour at each and every Tosa brewery — spread throughout all five districts.

7. East Tosa’s Magical Murals

We recommend a visit to East Tosa’s larger-than-life murals for anyone visiting our charming city. In 2019, artists from around the globe came to Tosa to help make it that much more colorful, and we know that our city wouldn’t be the same without them!

8. Outdoor Adventures Throughout Our City

With countless open-air parks and trails to explore, numerous local restaurants with outdoor dining (in the winter too!), and Wauwatosa Historical Society’s curated walking tours, there are so many ways to get the full Wauwatosa experience from the great outdoors.

9. Deep-Rooted History

Walk through Tosa Village to take in the European-esque architecture, visit The Little Red Store to see the oldest standing commercial building in Tosa, then make your way over the Kneeland-Walker House to visit the Wauwatosa Historical Society, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) educational organization that preserves the historical aspects of our community.

10. The People

Wauwatosa wouldn’t be what it is without the people — residents and visitors alike. Everyone plays a role in bringing that touch of magic to our charming city, and we’re incredibly thankful for each and every person who has come to explore.
