As the temperature drops and snow begins to fall, it’s important to find ways to fight off the Winter blues this season. Whether that’s embracing the cold or staying cozy indoors, we’ve got you covered! While we can’t say how much or how long the snow and cold will last, we’re sure Wauwatosa is the perfect place to hunker down for the Winter.

The Great Outdoors

If you’re feeling adventurous and are up to braving the elements, Wauwatosa is the place for you. County Grounds Park is one of the largest open spaces in Milwaukee County with its rolling hills and wide vistas. The park’s loop is perfect for hiking, walking, and embracing the beauty of nature. The Oak Leaf Trail is great for walking, running, or birdwatching on its paved 108-mile trail that runs throughout Milwaukee County. Hart Park is a 52-acre park along the Menomonee River just outside The Village, with plenty of nature areas and trails. They also offer curling in the Winter for people of all skill levels and ability through the Wauwatosa Curling Club!

Cozy Dining & Winter Fun

In the Winter, we often long for the patio seating of Summer and Fall. Luckily, Wauwatosa’s restaurant scene gets creative to beat the cold. Café Hollander has Alpen Globes that let you take in the happenings of The Village, without having to worry about the temperature. Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club has authentic Northwoods Shanties that make anyone feel like a true Wisconsinite! Gathering Place Brewing has pioneered a unique Winter activity unlike any other, Keg Curling! It’s hard to think about the weather when you’re grabbing a drink with friends and sliding kegs back and forth on the ice to score points.

Shop While the Temperature Drops

You could spend all winter in Mayfair Mall with over 160 retailers for shopping, dining, and entertainment. With everything from Apple, Barnes & Noble, AMC, Crate & Barrel and more, Mayfair is your one-stop-shopping destination. The Village is home to several shops and boutiques that are all walkable from one another. There are books, flowers, chocolates, and the latest and greatest in fashion…to name a few. If you’re serious about shopping, we recommend checking out all of the wonderful places to shop in Wauwatosa.

Event-ful Adventures

Wauwatosa is no stranger to incredible events in the winter. What better way to beat the cold than to celebrate National Flannel Day at Flannelpalooza. Held annually in early February, Flannelpalooza boasts food, drinks, axe throwing, a beard contest, and more! March is home to Tosa Restaurant Week, a 10-day event full of great deals on everything from sweet treats to meals and bites to crafty cocktails. Discover the tastes of Wauwatosa, support local businesses, and find a new favorite dish (or two). However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Our full lineup of events can be found here.
