Wauwatosa’s small, local shops, businesses, and boutiques truly add that special spark of magic to our charming city — they’re a huge part of what makes our community so unique. Plus, when you shop small, not only do you have access to one-of-a-kind finds, but your purchases go that much further to support our local business owners.  Discover a handful of Tosa’s countless small shops that are spread throughout our five dynamic districts.

Clothing & Accessories Boutiques

Tosa Village is jam-packed with shopping — especially when you walk along Harwood Ave. Stop into Flannel Fox for anything from apparel to home accents and candles, Heinsight Leather — the oldest shop in Tosa Village — for leather goods, Shop Privy for clothing and accessories galore, and Magpie Jewelry & Metal Studio for handmade, artisan jewelry. Right around the corner from Harwood Ave, you’ll find Salamander, a women-owned clothing and accessory boutique that’s been in Tosa Village for more than 30 years.  Make your way over to 68th & Wells to find Hyde Park MKE and Olde Towne Comfort Shoes & Repair. Both shops have been a staple in this district for many years.

Gift Shops Galore

If you’re ever in need of a gift for someone special (or a little something fun for yourself!), Tosa’s small shops are all perfect for exploring. For children’s gifts (or your inner child), stop into 68th & Wells’ Ruckus & Glee, a toy store for the young and young at heart.  For the bookworm, make your way to The Little Read Bookstore in Tosa Village, which is filled with everything from children’s books and mystery novels to romance selections and non-fiction books. Right across the street, you’ll find Studio Ric Rak for eclectic vintage and antique finds.  Also located in the heart of our charming city, you can find great home goods at Cream City Soap Company and Mooi.

Flowers & Food for All

The way to just about anyone’s heart may be food or flowers but shopping small is also a sure way to get that warm, fuzzy feeling yourself.  Situated in the oldest remaining structure of the original five-point intersection of Tosa Village’s center, The Flower Lady offers everything from flowers and plants to various gifts in The Dittmar Building. Alfa’s Flowers & Wedding Shop in East Tosa also features stunning floral arrangements and thoughtful gift baskets. Plus, it wouldn’t be right to leave Wauwatosa without stopping into The Village Cheese Shop for artisan and farmstead cheeses, or Ultimate Confections for endless combinations of chocolate treats.
