Wauwatosa prioritizes public art initiatives, demonstrated by the addition of five artistic benches in Firefly Grove Park. These benches are fully functional with a creative flare. Each artist was selected because of their thoughtful designs that reflected the spirit of Wauwatosa. A functional piece of artwork, these benches take seating up to the next level.

Sculptures

As you drift off of the beaten path of Wauwatosa and explore our parks, there are some wonderful surprises waiting for you. Inside our parks, you can find intricate sculptures you don’t want to miss. Larger than life, both Hartung and Firefly Grove Park feature some creatures you just might need to see to believe.

A large wooden sculpture of 'Mama Rosa,' a Thomas Dambo troll installation in Wauwatosa. The friendly giant figure is constructed from reclaimed wood pieces in natural tones, featuring a carved face with a gentle smile and twig-like hair made from bundled branches. The troll holds a bouquet of old-fashioned street lamps in one hand while lifting one lamp to her nose. The sculpture is set against a lush green forest backdrop with dense tree canopy, creating a whimsical scene that blends art with nature.

Mama Rosa

Thomas Dambo, a Danish artist who uses recycled materials to make masterpieces, created another spectacular and one-of-a-kind troll in Wauwatosa. On your way into the heart of Firefly Grove Park, a sweet troll is waiting to meet you. Nestled in Wauwatosa's newest park, Mama Rosa is just one of the many whimsical and artistic features in Firefly Grove Park that you need to see to believe.
