Wauwatosa has an artistic soul. Art is alive in well in its residents and it boldly asserts itself all over the city – in its parks, its streets, its events, its restaurants, and even its lodging.
With a renewed focus in the last decade, art is something that brings an extra touch of magic to our community. From truly big things to “art” you can eat, there’s a work of art for everybody in Wauwatosa. Let’s start with the newest installation!
There’s a Troll in Firefly Grove Park
Fe-fi-fo-FUN! This nearly 25-foot-tall whimsical troll sculpture created by internationally famous artist Thomas Dambo overlooks Firefly Grove Park, which opens in summer of 2025. Primarily using recycled materials, Dambo has built more than 100 larger-than-life trolls throughout the world in his quest to demonstrate environmentally conscious art. Firefly Grove Park has its own artful touches beyond the giant troll, including specially designed benches created by regional artists, rolling hills, a living Willow hut, playground, winding path, marsh area, and small pond. Additional features include a giant sledding hill, one of the only bicycle pump tracks in southeastern Wisconsin, and picnic areas for families to enjoy meals in the park. Talk about a picturesque scene. It’s an incredible confluence of art and nature that captures what Wauwatosa values.
